Applications and Usage

Residential Systems

  • Most common refrigerant used in modern home air conditioners and heat pumps.
  • Designed for split and ductless mini-split systems with higher cooling efficiency.
  • Delivers strong, consistent cooling performance in warm climates and high humidity areas.
  • Supports eco-friendly upgrades from older R-22 systems (requires system replacement, not retrofit).

Commercial Applications

  • Ideal for light commercial air conditioning systems such as offices, stores, and restaurants.
  • Used in rooftop HVAC units and multi-zone systems built for higher pressure refrigerants.
  • Delivers reliable performance for cooling medium-sized commercial buildings year-round.
  • Helps reduce maintenance downtime thanks to its stable operation and wide availability.

Industrial Applications

  • Used in small to medium industrial HVAC and chiller systems for controlled environments.
  • Provides efficient heat exchange for equipment rooms, workshops, and production spaces.
  • Compatible with high-pressure designs for optimal cooling in compact systems.
  • Trusted in facilities seeking reliable temperature management with minimal system modifications.

Specialized Uses

  • Common in portable spot coolers, data-room cooling units, and compact refrigeration systems.
  • Preferred by service professionals for its proven balance of cooling power and efficiency.
  • Widely supported in HVAC training, installation, and service networks across the U.S.
  • Plays a key role in transitioning to next-generation refrigerants like R-454B for future systems.
